glebeland celebrates the queen's golden jubilee

The Mayor of Wokingham Councillor Linda Barnes, her husband John Barnes and CTBF President Ian Lewis, joined 120 guests for a fundraising Jubilee barbecue at the Fund's residential and convalescent home in Wokingham on Saturday 8th June. Guests travelled from the south coast, from CTBF Birmingham Committee and friends from the British Cinema and Television Veterans Association also came along.

Everyone was welcomed by a drink before they were invited to have a go on the fairground games including reel in the horse racing, hoopla, tombola, guess the weight of the cake, take a turn around the croquet pitch or buy a bargain at the White Elephant stall.

Prizes for the best fancy hat were presented and although it rained for a while in the afternoon, this was after a delicious lunch in the grounds which was prepared and served by Linda, staff and top barbecue chef Eddie! The event was a sell out and the day raised nearly £1,000.00.
