To overcome these problems and meet the expectations of future generations wishing to move into residential or sheltered accommodation; a major development and modernisation of Glebelands estate is planned.
- The first phase of the development is a new building of 27 one and two bedroom self-contained apartments in a Cloister to the north of the old house but connected to it by a covered walkway.
- The second phase of the project is the refurbishment of the main house, providing 37 en-suite rooms, all of which can be adapted for full-time nursing. Communal facilities within the house have also been modernised.
- The third phase, to the south of Glebelands House, will be the demolition of ten cottages and their replacement by the building of 41 one and two bedroom retirement apartments.
When completed, the estate will offer facilities for just over 100 residents and provide sheltered housing, residential accommodation and full-time nursing care, all on one site.
What extra or improved services will the campaign provide?
Once all the construction and modernisation work is completed the community of 100 + residents will be able to fully enjoy and benefit from:
- A restaurant
- A therapy pool and healthy living centre
- Hairdressing facilities
- Treatment services such as chiropody and aromatherapy
- Cinema and library
- Tennis court
How much money does the campaign require?
The total cost of the project, spread over three years, is estimated to be £12.0 million.
The CTBF has a rigorous financial management plan to ensure that the Estate will be financially self-sustaining within ten years. The CTBF will part fund these developments, and additional funds will be raised through the sale of leases on flats and apartments in the Cloister and the South Site.
To make all this work; a balance of £3 million must be generated through the Capital Appeal.
