The Royal Film Performance™ 2005 will be held on Wednesday 7th December at the Royal Albert Hall, London, in the gracious presence of TRH The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall. The World Premiere of Walt Disney Pictures & Walden Media's "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe" has been chosen as this year’s film.
The magic of Disney will transform The Royal Albert Hall on the evening of the 7th December into a glittering ice palace, mimicking the white winter world of Narnia, from C.S. Lewis' timeless classic. Cast members expected to attend include top British talents Tilda Swinton, James McVoy, Rupert Everett, Jim Broadbent, Ray Winstone, Dawn French and Liam Neeson.
Based on the novel by C. S. Lewis, four children: Lucy (Georgie Henley), Edmund (Skandar Keynes), Susan (Anna Popplewell) and Peter (William Mosely), are evacuated from London, during World War II, to the rural country home of an elderly professor. There they find a magic wardrobe which leads to a mystical land called 'Narnia', inhabited by talking beasts, dwarves, fauns, centaurs and giants that has become cursed to eternal winter by the evil White Witch, Jadis. Under the guidance of a noble ruler, the lion Aslan, the children fight to overcome the White Witch’s powerful hold over Narnia in a spectacular, climactic battle that will free Narnia from Jadis' icy spell forever.
Walt Disney Pictures/Walden Media's "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe" is released in the UK by Buena Vista International (UK) Ltd and opens in cinemas everywhere in December 2005. Directed by Andrew Adamson ("Shrek", "Shrek 2") and produced by Mark Johnson ("The Rookie", "Rain Man"), the film stars Tilda Swinton, James McAvoy, Rupert Everett, Jim Broadbent, Ray Winstone, Dawn French, Liam Neeson, Georgie Henley, Skandar Keynes, William Mosely and Anna Popplewell.
