The Cinema and Television Benevolent Fund (CTBF) has been specially selected as the official charity of the Sony Ericsson Empire Awards 2006. This is the first time in the Sony Ericsson Empire Awards’ eleven year history that a charity has been chosen as the official beneficiary.
The Sony Ericsson Empire Awards 2006 taking place on Monday 13th March at the Hilton Metropole in London is one of the most star-studded and entertaining awards ceremonies of all. The night will be hosted by Bill Bailey and the cream of the film industry is expected to attend - previous attendees include - Quentin Tarantino, Matt Damon, and screen legend Dustin Hoffman.
“Empire is delighted to announce The CTBF as the official charity of the Sony Ericsson Empire Awards. There are over 250,000 people who work ‘behind the scenes’ in British film and television and we are pleased to be able to provide a platform for a charity which actively supports them.”
Dave Henderson,
Creative Director, EMAP Metro, The Sony Ericsson Empire Awards 2006
The Cinema and Television Benevolent Fund is the UK trade charity providing practical support and financial assistance to employees, former employees and their families, ‘behind the scenes’ in the film, cinema, commercial television and affiliated industries.
“The CTBF is thrilled to have been selected as the Sony Ericsson Empire Awards first ever official charity at a time when the Fund is undertaking a radical new awareness campaign. More people who work ‘behind the scenes’ need to be made aware that they have their own trade charity, that they can turn to should they fall on hard times. We are also looking to encourage greater support from companies within the industry.”
Gayle Gover,
Director of Development, The Cinema and Television Benevolent Fund
The CTBF already has an extremely successful portfolio of high profile fundraising events such as, ‘The Royal Film Performance™’ which this year celebrates it’s 60th anniversary. The Royal Film Performance has been the most prestigious fundraising event for the fund since it began in 1946 and is the only annual film premiere to be attended by either HM The Queen or TRH The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall. The CTBF ‘Best of British Comedy Lunch’ attracts some of comedy’s most acclaimed names and faces who host tables for hundreds of influential professionals at BAFTA’s headquarters in London. 2005s’ table hosts included: Paul Merton, Galton & Simpson, Gina Yashere, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Victor Spinetti and Neil Innes.
