STARS TURN OUT FOR CTBF CHARITY PREMIERE

Simon Pegg

The stars of hit British comedy Hot Fuzz helped raise hundreds of pounds for the CTBF by attending a special charity premiere in the village where the movie was filmed.

The sleepy Somerset village of Wells became a hive of activity as Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and director Edgar Wright came to town.

Wright, who grew up in the west country village, turned his picturesque hometown into the fictional backdrop of the movie – renaming it Sandford.

The stars were keen to thank residents for putting up with their filming, apologised for any chips in the statues caused by stray bullets, and also thanked the numerous locals who became extras in the film.

The film was shot all around the city, including the Market Square and St Cuthbert's churchyard and new signs were put up during filming – confusing many tourists.

The trio arrived at the cinema in a police car with blue lights flashing, courtesy of Somerset’s finest and were greeted by dozens of fans.

The film follows Londoner Nicholas Angel (played by Pegg) as he teams up with local village bobby Danny Butterman (Frost), to solve a series of murders. The duo first hit the big screen in Shaun of the Dead.

The movie also features cameos from the cream of British comedy talent including Steve Coogan, Bill Nighy, Timothy Dalton and Edward Woodward.

The special charity premiere raised £1,700 for the CTBF.

Chief Executive Peter Hore said: “We would like to thank everyone involved in making this event such a success – the stars and director, NBC Universal for donating the film for this special screening and the Coopers, who run Wells Entertainment Centre.”
