Royal Film Performance™ History

Starting in 1946 with Powell and Pressburger's 'A Matter of Life and Death', we have shown a diverse range of films, from historical epics (Scott of the Antarctic - 1948, Titanic - 1997), powerhouse dramas (Kramer Vs Kramer - 1980, Empire of the Sun - 1988), and Shakespearean comedy (The Taming of the Shrew - 1967), to action and adventure (The Three Musketeers - 1974, Casino Royale - 2006), sci-fi (Close Encounters of the Third Kind - 1978), and fantasy (The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe - 2005, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey - 2012). In 2010 we even presented the first 3D film to be screened for a Royal Film Performance when HM The Queen attended the premiere of The Chronicles of Narnia: the Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
