Financial Assistance

If you are finding it difficult to make ends meet and struggling on a low income, the CTBF may be able to give you a regular weekly grant or offer a loan. A free consultation with a money adviser can also be provided in cases where large debts are making life a misery. We may also be able to make grants towards heating bills in the winter and telephone bills.

Practical Assistance

If your cooker, fridge, washing machine or television are old and not working very well, we may be able to replace them for you. You may need a new carpet, mattress, recliner chair or electric powered vehicle or find it difficult to pay your annual television licence. You may need adaptations to your home to enable you to go on living there.

Back to Work

If you are out of work and finding it difficult to obtain more work, the CTBF offers a "Back to Work" package, consisting where appropriate of an "immediate needs" payment, grants to help with bills for 6 months as well as help with telephone bills. After 6 months, our visitor will conduct a further assessment.

Training and Retraining

You may have been away from the industry for a period (perhaps through illness or starting a family) and need help returning to work or you may have set your sights on a particular course to further your ambitions and give your career a boost. The CTBF may be able to offer help with funding for courses (provided there is at least 2 years service in the industry). We may also put you in touch with another organisation, through our relationship with Skillset, to provide advice on retraining either within the industry or if this is not working for you, retraining in another industry.
